Workshop yesterday

The CUP Chinese Grammar book is slowly taking shape. At the second workshop yesterday, only some local contributors attended the meeting. Few numbers meant more scrutiny on the drafts. That was beneficial for me. Given another four months, my chapter can be much improved, I hope. It has been an educational experience for me, writing a descriptive chapter on deixis and anahpora. What I put down as too complicated for the book, I can extract for a separate paper or more.

News from a publisher

Last week, I got to know, at a pleasant afternoon meeting, from visitors representing a publisher, that Professor W has just finished her second book on RT, probably also a co-authored one. Might be a collection of theire papers. Good news because it was a long-awaiting one. Some more good news on some useful textbooks for CDA. Well, here C stands for clinical, not critical! And a good textbook on rhetoric. Publishers talk about books, not about journal articles, I believe. I told them about my books. They found them interesting. Every book was a torture for me. But when you look back, each represents a worthy effort, and they gained lives of their own.
